Data protection and recovery – features of Asigra v12

LiveBackup’s underlying software vendor, Asigra, announced a new version of their backup solution a few months ago. Version 12 backs up all data into a single repository, offers cloud application support for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS). It also significantly increases the list of supported devices, disaster recovery for VMware environments and anytime/anywhere data recovery across the organisation.

The new data protection capabilities allow offering backup of data from various cloud applications, such as Salesforce and IBM Smart Cloud.

Data protection software features

The new features of backup protection software cover the entire Salesforce database, including accounts, contacts, leads, campaigns and custom objects. Users have the option of recovering just data or both the schema and data. Security is maintained with AES 256 encryption both in-flight and at-rest.

The new software offers anytime, anywhere and any type of device recovery. It provides support for Windows, Linux and Mac desktops and laptops as well as Android/iPad tablets, iPhones and Android smartphones. The latest version supports non-rooted Android devices for complete recovery of call logs, settings, applications and a variety of other data.

High-performance snapshot support is another feature enabled in the new version which was created by leveraging the existing storage hardware investments. Capabilities include quick and efficient protection of large data sets using storage snapshots as well as a complimentary snapshot manager interface that may be used to catalogue, configure and manage snapshots.

Asigra cloud backup v12 features Virtual Machine (VM) disaster recovery, providing protection against failures with backup copies of VMs along with instant activation of backup copies. Remote site protection is offered through backup of VMs to offsite data centres with continued business operations as data is recovered to the primary site.

The latest software version additionally simplifies data management maintenance for the engineering teams and provides the ability to meet demanding recovery time objectives (RTOs). This is achieved through multiple options for protecting and recovering data, which include file or image-based recovery, snapshots and virtual disaster recovery.
